Kang Daniel’s First Parade: A High Hype, Low Delivery

Let’s just get straight into it. I traveled all the way from Seattle to Chicago to see Kang Daniel, and let me tell you—I was excited. I’ve been a fan since the WANNA ONE days, so I had high expectations. I mean, this man’s been giving us hits, so the concert? It should have been lit, right? Well… let’s talk about it.

From the moment I walked in, it was clear the venue was, uh, underprepared. Honestly, the only thing that was remotely organized was the check-in process. Communication? Barely there. The whole VIP experience? A mess. We’re talking no clear direction on where to go, VIPs all in one big cluster like we were just thrown together—what even was that? Konnect Entertainment and the venue really dropped the ball here.

No soundcheck. No typical VIP perks. Just a lot of confusion and people trying to figure out what was going on. Add in a crowd full of 12-16 year olds, and I was just sitting there like, “Wait… am I at the right concert?”

And the crowd—let’s talk about that. A huge shift in fans compared to the past. I don’t know if it was the venue or the shift in demographics, but it was definitely a different vibe than I expected. Not enough of the older fans were there, which was honestly a bit sad to see.

Now, when Kang Daniel hit the stage, we were all ready. He came out hot, starting with Parade, and we were vibing… but then, Waves happened. Honey, don’t even get me started. He barely did the full song—just his part and the ending. I was like, “Wait, is this it?” I mean, we’ve been waiting for that moment, and he just teased us with a minute and a half? If you’re gonna do it, do it right, y’know?

But I get it, it’s a collaboration—maybe a full cover would’ve been a better choice? Because the crowd was buzzing for that moment, and when it didn’t hit the way we wanted, it killed the vibe a little. Most people ended up filming instead of actually enjoying the performance, and I totally get that—it’s hard to stay in the moment when the energy just isn’t matching.

And listen, Kang Daniel seemed… off. Like he wasn’t feeling it. Maybe there was something personal going on (I’m not here to speculate), but the crowd definitely felt that energy. His interactions with us? Timid at best. Maybe he was tired, maybe it just wasn’t his night, but damn—it was obvious.

Oh, and the kicker of the night? An entire family—yes, a grandma, a mom, and a daughter—yelled “marry me” at him. I was like, “Sis, hold up, I thought we were all here for Kang Daniel?” 😂

The VIP benefit was… just a group photo. And that’s it. Like, really? That’s all we get? For the price of the VIP? A single photo?

Look, I tried to enjoy myself, but it was hard to ignore the obvious flaws. The performance, the experience, it all felt rushed and thrown together last minute. It’s honestly a bummer, because I know Kang Daniel can do better. He’s got the talent, the looks, and the energy. He just didn’t bring it this timeMaybe next tour he’ll do better? Here’s to hoping.

For now,

Yours Truly
