Tate McRae’s Invitation Was Overdue.

The wings were fitting. The debut was overdue. The 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show brought the nostalgia, but Tate McRae gave us a reason to stay in the present. There will always be something about the years when Rihanna commanded that runway. Those performances earned their place in the conversation. Tonight, Tate made a convincing case for her own. And honestly, who kept this invitation on their desk?

Making her VS performance debut with “Housewife,” McRae stepped into a setting that felt like a natural extension of her artistry. The confidence, the choreography, the way she works a camera, this booking practically explained itself. She seemed comfortable from the start, and that ease made the performance all the more enjoyable.

Then there was the red. Gorgeous. The sheer wings? Absolutely. Victoria’s Secret comes with an expectation of fantasy, and Tate arrived prepared. The styling gave us the drama we wanted while allowing her movement to remain part of the appeal. Whoever signed off on those wings, thank you.

But let’s talk about the arrangements, because those deserve attention.

“Housewife” was an excellent introduction. Bringing a new single to a debut like this gave the set a sense of occasion, while the familiar songs arrived with something extra. These versions understood the rhythm of a runway and gave us a fresh reason to pay attention.

“Sports Car” delivered exactly the attitude we wanted. “Dear God,” however? That was the one. Its remix was our standout, the kind of arrangement that has you looking for a replay before the show has finished. We came curious about “Housewife” and left wanting an official release of that “Dear God” version. Consider this our formal request.

And while this was Tate’s debut, Maycee Steele and Stevie Doré deserve their flowers. Longtime fans know exactly who these girls are, and seeing them beside her for this moment made it that much sweeter. They have been part of the performances that brought us here; of course we wanted to see them on this runway, too. Both looked phenomenal and delivered with the confidence and personality we have come to love. A milestone for Tate, made more special by familiar company.

Calling someone an “it girl” has become almost routine. Tonight, Tate gave the phrase some substance. She wore the wings, delivered the choreography, and gave us arrangements we are already asking to hear again. For all the anticipation surrounding her debut, the performance left us wanting a second invitation. Preferably with less of a wait. She was born to perform on that runway.
