The Making of SWEET REVENGE
By Viktorija | EXE
Somewhere between Japan and the Netherlands, three young women are building something together. Composed of AGNES, ASAMI, and LARISSA, SWEET REVENGE is a three-member girl group based in Japan and the first global girl group formed under LDH. With members from both Japan and the Netherlands, the trio brings together different backgrounds, perspectives, and creative influences while building a shared identity through music.
Although still early in their journey, SWEET REVENGE is already carving out an identity of its own. The group’s focus is not simply on where they are headed, but on who they are becoming along the way. Looking back on the beginning of their journey, the members are less focused on numbers and more focused on how much they have grown.
“We started training together when we were younger,” the group reflected. “Now we have matured, not just physically but mentally as well.” Outside of music, each member brings a distinct perspective to the group.
For LARISSA, confidence has always come from authenticity. A longtime lover of makeup, she views beauty as a form of self-expression rather than a requirement. Despite working in an industry where appearance is often scrutinized, she explained that her relationship with makeup has remained healthy and positive.
“I wear makeup because I love it and it makes me feel confident,” she shared. “But I don’t need it to be confident.”
Even after moving to Japan, where beauty standards can differ significantly from those in Europe, Larissa never felt pressured to change her relationship with makeup. Instead, she embraced the freedom to experiment and express herself on her own terms.
For AGNES, growth often happens during moments of quiet reflection. Away from rehearsals and performances, she finds peace in nature through long walks and time spent outdoors. Those moments allow her to process emotions without judgment and create space to simply be herself.
“There are days when I think, ‘Why are we doing this?’ or ‘Why am I doing this?’” she admitted. “But then I remember that this is what I want.” It was one of the most honest moments of the conversation.
ASAMI’s growth has taken shape through her experiences as both a performer and a DJ. While the two roles may seem different, she sees a common thread connecting them: understanding people. Whether standing behind a DJ booth or performing alongside her group members, Asami explained that success comes from reading a room and creating a connection with the audience.
“As a DJ, you want to feel out the crowd,” she explained. “I use those same skills when performing with the group.”
Her experiences have also reinforced a simple lesson about music itself.
“If the crowd isn’t having fun, there’s no point,” she said.
One thing became clear throughout our conversation: the members consistently returned to the topic of music itself.
Not numbers. Not social media. Not trends. Music.
Again and again, the conversation circled back to connection, whether that meant connecting with an audience during a performance, inspiring listeners, or creating songs that people can see themselves in. For ASAMI , that connection begins with understanding a crowd and responding to its energy. For the group as a whole, it is reflected in their desire to inspire others while continuing to grow alongside their audience. Music is what connects artists to the people listening. It is how audiences discover new artists, find comfort in a lyric, or see parts of themselves reflected in a song.
For SWEET REVENGE, growth is not something that happens alone. It happens alongside the people listening. When asked what they hoped someone would write about SWEET REVENGE ten years from now, the answers reflected both ambition and confidence.
AGNES hoped the group would be remembered for how much it had grown and achieved.
ASAMI, without hesitation, simply replied, “Sweet Revenge is the best.”
LARISSA’S response?
“Period.”
For a rookie group, the confidence is striking.
There is trust between them. There is support. There is friendship. More importantly, there is a genuine belief in one another and in what they are building together.
Throughout our conversation, one theme continued to emerge: growth.
Whether it was LARISSA’s confidence in self-expression, AGNES’ reflections during quiet walks in nature, or ASAMI’s understanding of connection through music, each member described growth in a different way. Yet together, their experiences point toward something larger than any individual achievement.
Perhaps the best way to describe SWEET REVENGE is simple: three young women from different backgrounds growing into themselves, growing into artists, and growing into SWEET REVENGE.
